Overview

What we do, and why it matters

Custom software starts with the process it has to support. Somebody has to write down what actually happens, step by step, before anything is built, and the quickest way to do that is to sit with the people who do the work. For a business in Massachusetts we can do that part in person. An afternoon with the team that re-keys orders into the warehouse system, or puts the weekly report together by hand, tells us more than a written specification usually does.

Search for a software development company in Massachusetts and most of the results are directories and ranked lists. A list tells you who exists. It can't tell you whether a company will read your existing system before quoting to replace it, whether its scope says what's excluded as clearly as what's included, or whether you'll be able to hand the code to somebody else later. Ask any company you talk to about those three things.

The work itself is described on our custom software development page: internal tools, the spreadsheet that became load-bearing, integration layers between systems that were never designed to meet, customer portals, and older PHP applications brought up to date while they stay in service. It's built in PHP and Laravel, with React where an interface needs it.

We're on Eastern time, Emyrix is a US company on a US contract invoicing in dollars, and most of the state is a drive.

Services

What's included

Process mapping, in person

Time with the people who do the work, writing down what actually happens before anything is designed. For Massachusetts businesses this can happen on site, and elsewhere on a call.

Internal tools and business applications

Order and job tracking, approvals, inventory, scheduling, and reporting, built around how the business runs.

Replacing a spreadsheet that outgrew itself

The workbook two people maintain and nobody else dares open. We map what it does, including the rules that only exist in somebody's head, before replacing any of it.

Integration layers between systems

ERP, CRM, accounting, shipping, and payments connected with retries, logging, and alerts, so a feed that stops working says so.

Taking over software somebody else built

An audit of what exists, the urgent problems first, and a plan you can put a budget against. Keeping it is one of the options.

Legacy PHP modernization

Applications on an unsupported PHP version or an abandoned framework, upgraded in steps you can stop between, while the business keeps using them.

Why Emyrix

What you get working with us

Your existing system gets read first

Before anybody quotes to replace software you already have, we read it and tell you what condition it's in. Replacement is expensive and risky, and it isn't automatically the right answer.

A scope with edges

The written scope says what's included, what isn't, and what we'd build first, so there's something concrete to agree to and to hold us to.

Code you can take elsewhere

Documented, deployed through CI, and readable by another developer. If you bring the work in-house or move it to somebody else, the software goes with you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do we choose a software development company in Massachusetts?

Ask three things. Will they read your existing system before quoting to replace it? Does their scope say what is excluded as clearly as what is included? And can you hand the code to another developer if you part ways? A directory listing answers none of those. A first conversation should answer all three.

Can you come to our office to map the process?

Yes, for businesses in Massachusetts and nearby. Mapping a process goes faster with the people who do the work in the room, and most of the state is a drive. Routine development after that is remote.

Will you read our existing system before quoting to replace it?

Yes, always. We look at what it does for the business, what it runs on and whether that is still supported, how it is built, and how much of it is actually used. Then we cost keeping it and replacing it. Keeping it wins more often than people expect.

Where in Massachusetts is Emyrix?

Emyrix LLC is registered in Massachusetts and works remotely, with no walk-in office. We come to you in the Boston area and around the state when a process mapping session, a kickoff, or a handover is worth doing in person.

Do you only work with Massachusetts businesses?

No. We work with businesses across the United States. In-person process mapping is easier here, and everything else works the same everywhere.
