Overview

What we do, and why it matters

Search for a Laravel developer in Massachusetts and most of what comes back is job listings. Hiring is one way to get Laravel work done, and it's the right one when there's a full-time job's worth of it and somebody on staff to manage the person doing it. Plenty of businesses have neither. They have one application the business depends on, a list of changes, and a framework upgrade that's been postponed twice.

That's where we fit. For some clients it's the whole arrangement: we build and look after the application, and there's no developer on the payroll. For others it's a gap. The developer who built it has left, the role is open, and the application still needs somebody who can ship a fix this week. We keep it patched, deployed, and documented while you hire, then hand it to the new developer with notes on how it's built and what's changed since they last saw a commit.

Being in Massachusetts matters less for the code than for the working day. We're on Eastern time, so a business in Boston, Cambridge, Worcester, or Springfield gets the same hours we keep. Emyrix is a US company on a US contract, invoicing in dollars. And when a handover from a departing developer goes better with everybody at one table, most of the state is a drive.

The engineering is the same work our Laravel development page describes in detail: new applications built from a written scope, inherited codebases read before anything changes, upgrades one major version at a time, and the performance and security work that comes with an application that's been in production for a few years.

Services

What's included

Taking over from a developer who left

We read the codebase, get access to the repository, the hosting, and the deploy process sorted out, deal with whatever is urgent, and write down what we found. You get a plain account of the application's condition before anybody proposes changing it.

Covering the gap while you hire

Security updates, bug fixes, and deploys carried on between one developer leaving and the next one starting, so the application doesn't sit untouched while the role is open. When your hire starts, we hand it over properly.

New Laravel applications

Customer portals, internal tools, admin panels, and integration layers, built from a written scope with accounts, roles, queues, an audit trail, and error reporting in the first version.

Laravel version upgrades

From whatever version you're on to a supported one: PHP first when it's blocking the framework, then Laravel one major version at a time, then the packages that were pinning it. The application stays live throughout.

APIs and integrations

The connection between your Laravel application and an ERP, a CRM, a warehouse system, or a store, built with retries, logging, and alerts so a feed that stops says so.

Ongoing maintenance

A retainer for framework and dependency upgrades, security updates, monitoring, and a queue of improvements, for businesses that would rather not hire for it at all.

Why Emyrix

What you get working with us

Start without a hiring process

No job post, no interview rounds, no notice period. After the first conversation you get a written scope, and the work starts from that.

Built to be handed over

Tests around the parts that matter, a documented deploy, and notes on the decisions behind the code. If you hire somebody next year, they should be able to read it and carry on.

Eastern time, US contract

Emyrix LLC is registered in Massachusetts. Working hours that match yours, invoices in dollars, and a company your lawyer can look up.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should we hire a Laravel developer or work with a Laravel company?

Hire when there is steady, full-time Laravel work and somebody on staff to manage it. Work with a company when the work comes in bursts, when you need it started before a hire could be, or when nobody in-house can judge a Laravel developer's work yet. Plenty of businesses do both in sequence: a company first, then an in-house developer who takes over what was built.

Can you keep our Laravel application running while we hire?

Yes. We take over the repository, the hosting, and the deploys, keep security updates and bug fixes going, and write down what we learn about the application as we go. When your new developer starts, they get the application, the notes, and a handover conversation with us.

Will you hand the application over to our own developer later?

Yes, and we build with that in mind. Tests cover the parts that matter, the deploy process is written down, and the reasons behind the main decisions are recorded where the next person will find them. Some clients keep us on a retainer afterwards for upgrades or a second opinion. Others don't need us again, which is fine.

Where in Massachusetts is Emyrix?

Emyrix LLC is registered in Massachusetts and works remotely. There is no walk-in office. Meetings happen on a call, or in person in the Boston area and around the state when a kickoff or a handover is worth being in the room for.

Do you only work with Laravel applications in Massachusetts?

No. We work with businesses across the United States. Being in the same state and time zone is useful for the clients it applies to, and the work is remote either way.
